If you’ve been searching Twitter for anything Minnesota-related, you may have come across a conversation that’s been going on between 40 Minnesota bloggers under the “#MinnBloggersEvent” hashtag. Turns out, it’s much more than just a blogger meet-up — participants will also donate their time to an organization called Feed My Starving Children, which is contributing to the relief efforts in Haiti.

Tonight’s event, which was organized by Melissa Berggren (@MarketingMamaMN), kicks off with a networking gathering at Houlihan’s restaurant in Eagan, later moving on to the Feed My Starving Children facility.
Berggren, a hospital marketing professional and Minnesota blogger herself, says that although the event was organized before the Haiti earthquake, “Our time and work are now needed more than ever.”
“There are so many powerful voices in the Minnesota blogging community,” says Berggren. “We’ve formed amazing connections online, but many of us have not met in person before. I wanted to pull together a blogger event that’s fun and allows for networking, but is meaningful and inspirational as well.”
According to Berggren, event participants come from diverse backgrounds. “We’ve got mommy bloggers, fashion bloggers, foodie bloggers, writer bloggers, a recruiter, agency bloggers, journalist bloggers, weight loss bloggers, corporate bloggers — what a great list!”

What a wonderful event, Lea! How did it go?
ReplyThe event was soo awesome! We met soo many wonderful people and all helped contribute to a very worthy cause! I am sooo looking forward to next time!
ReplyHeather, it was a great event! I met so many interesting bloggers, and volunteering felt great. Feed My Starving Children is an incredible organization – we actually packed 13,824 meals while we were there (enough to feed 38 kids for a year, we were told)! I’m definitely going back… think I’ll bring my oldest daughter along next time. She’s been asking so many questions about Haiti – this may be a great way to inspire a little activist-volunteer!
ReplyHi Darcie – I agree, it was a super event. Nice to meet you! I hope to see you around on Twitter or TwitterMoms (where I’m a featured contributor) – have you joined yet?
